CHET DAVIS

Born in Ashland, Pennsylvania, and now a resident of Paxinos, Chet Davis maintains a private studio in his Central Pennsylvania home. He has been a noted art educator and artist in the region for over four decades.

He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in art education in 1973, and received his M.AEd. degree from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in 1980.

Chet’s paintings and drawings have won international, national, and regional recognition.

His recent one man exhibitions include Susquehanna University Bough-Weis Library(2021), the Exchange Gallery, Bloomsburg (2019), The Urban Post Gallery, Lewisburg (2017) Gamut Theatre, Harrisburg(2016), Post and Lintel Gallery in Selinsgrove(2013), Artspace Gallery in Bloomsburg (2012), the Gallery at Second, Harrisburg (2011), Mansfield University’s North Hall Gallery(2009), Tamaqua Art Gallery(2008), Bloomsburg University's Haas Gallery(2005), Lock Haven University's Sloan Art Center Gallery(2004). Davis has had solo exhibitions at Northumberland County Career and Arts Center Gallery, the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, the Rose Lehman Center Gallery of Harrisburg Area Community College, Chambers Gallery at Penn State University, the Doshi Center for Contemporary Art, and the Markle Gallery of the Hazleton Art League.

Paintings by Chet have been in five different exhibitions at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, and his list of invitationals include exhibits at the William Ris Gallery of Camp Hill, the Erie Museum of Art, Indiana University’s Kipp Gallery, Bloomsburg University’s Haas Gallery, the Doshi Center for Contemporary Art, Harrisburg's Whitaker Center for Science and Art, the Northumberland County Council for the Arts, and the Art Association of Harrisburg.

He has won numerous honors, including awards from the Hazleton Art League, the Art Association of Harrisburg, the Susquehanna Art Society, the Allied Artists of Schuylkill County, Perry County Council for the Arts, and the Lewisburg Arts Council. Chet is a listed artist in "The Best of Pennsylvania Artists and Artisans 2004, the "Artists’ Bluebook", AskArt.com, and ArtFacts.com..

Chet’s work hangs in public and private collections across the country and in Sweden, Holland, Italy, and England. His art can be found in collections of the Art Association of Harrisburg, Hazleton Art League, the Hoagannes Corporation, Susquehanna University, Bloomsburg University, Lock Haven University, and Mansfield University.

He has taught art at Luzerne County Community College, Alvernia University, and Misericordia University.
